Although the air curtain fume hood increases the power consumption of air supply, the exhaust air volume and power consumption of air curtain fume hood are greatly reduced. Therefore, generally speaking, the energy-saving benefits of air curtain fume hood are great, and some problems need to be further studied.

We introduce three energy-saving measures and existing problems of fume hood. It should be noted that when considering these measures, we should also consider the air balance and pressure balance of the whole room at the same time. The air curtain fume hood completely closes the operation port of the fume hood through the jet. During the flow process, the jet should continuously suck the indoor air, but this part has little suction, which has little impact on the pressure of the heating and air-conditioning room. The exhaust air volume of make-up air exhaust cabinet is relatively large. When the cabinet door is opened, 30% of the exhaust air volume shall be supplemented by indoor air, which may cause obvious changes in pressure for heating and air-conditioning rooms. Therefore, the indoor pressure of air curtain fume hood is easier to balance than that of make-up fume hood.

In addition, the energy-saving effect of the fume hood is also closely related to the temperature of harmful substances, the structure of the fume hood, whether the system design and installation is reasonable or not. As long as the majority of HVAC technicians have the courage to explore according to the specific situation, they will save more energy.
